Thanks for your review Tom,. It certainly opened my mind to a brand I probably would never have considered. With the departure of our larger Holdens & Fords I was at a bit of a loss on what to buy. The Kia Stinger was the obvious choice but it was really to small - I was squeezing into a low cockpit not getting into a roomy comfortable vehicle. Looked at a few different makes and models and found that the Superb Scout fitted me, my requirements and budget. I’ve ordered one that is now currently being shipped. I normally like white vehicles but the Superb Scout really looks fantastic in the Silver. Incidentally this will be my first foreign vehicle apart from my very first car - an English 1964 Consul Cortina. Thanks.

@@pastorofmuppets8834 Yes, i’ve now had my superb scout for just over three months. I am extremely happy with it and if I was still in the market would not hesitate in buying the same vehicle again. It really is roomy and comfortable, quite economical and if you hit the accelerator it goes and I mean goes quickly. I have set everything tech to suit me and am very impressed. Plus everything works as it should but I must admit I have not tried the launch control (for really fast acceleration from a standing start) or the automatic parking feature yet. YES I’m very happy with it.

I watch the channel in part to feed my envy of vehicles we don't get in North America. VW has decided that Americans want larger, cheaper versions of their vehicles than their counterparts in Europe and Australia. And that Americans hate wagons. It's an understandable but VERY frustrating decision on VW's part. The Skoda Superb Scout is gorgeous. The Golf R wagon is a dream machine. Given the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic and the incredibly inept management of the response in the US I can understand why Australians might not want to see me show up on its shores but I sometimes fantasize about immigrating if for no other reason than the choice of cars available.

good review as always Tom. I couldn't wait for your review however, so actually test drove one - and pretty much fell in love with it straight away. Absolutely awesome value for money given all the stuff if comes with and you really don't notice the size once you are driving it. Its actually narrower than our Sante Fe was albeit marginally longer. Just one note on the spare - the boot cavity does not actually fit a full alloy spare for the 235mm tyres - they are too wide. According to the Skoda sales guy a 'full-size' Skoda spare vs the space saver currently in the boot is apparently a 205/55 R16 . It's the only niggle I have with this otherwise awesome car.

Very nice review Tom, great work! The misses and I looked at the Skoda Superb 206tsi Sportline wagon earlier this year, while not the Scout it was a very nice car to drive and had heaps of room inside. We ended up getting the Passat 206tsi R-Line wagon though, as the slightly smaller dimensions seemed to suit us (and the garage) a bit better. The platform is great though, heaps of space/power, and very comfy to daily drive. It confuses me why people would pick an SUV over something like this.

I’ve got a 2017 Skoda Sportline 206kw wagon & I love it! This would be high on my list as a replacement, purely because of the raised height, let alone the performance & absolute comfort. I’m surprised you said the noise was a tad high as in my iteration it’s limousine quiet. Granted this is the off road version. Good & honest appraisal of a very nice wagon. Keep your SUV’s.👎🏼

    • @chasingcars

The Sportline 206TSI wagon and Scout 200TSI are two subtle but interesting variations on a theme. Personally, I’m a fan of the softer but well controlled Scout. That tad of extra ride height just gives heaps of confidence entering driveways and of course on dirt (as illustrated) but keeps the car-like feel. Like it a lot.

Five years later it's still running great and I'm struggling to find a good enough replacement (I.e. something that will be better). Go and join the Golf forums and see what nightmares half the owners are having (yes the other half have zero issues). How many friends do you have with anything make by BMW? Many of my friends and RUclips vloggers I watch have been back for major issues. Even Nissan and Mazda are known for issues nowadays though not as common (our most reliable past cars have been a Nissan pulsar and a Mazda 3). My Ford Focus RS, well known apparently to break down, has one Bluetooth issue. Yet everyone says "oh you have an RS? Good luck!" I don't need luck. Two years into ownership very happy with it. Stop propogating misinformation based on zero information.

Pretty no-fuss, long and narrow shape, not too many details simply there for the sake of aesthetics

The Passat Alltrack is no longer available in Australia. VW are no longer at this stage looking at its return. The Passat range here is down to 1 sedan & 1 Wagon only.

The last update I had maybe six months ago was that the Alltrack was set to return as a 162TSI petrol. Do you have information that this has changed?

@@chasingcars Michael Bartsch from VW Australia was trying to secure both the Alltrack Tdi & a Petrol variant as well. The Tdi was due back here at the start of this yr, & the petrol was supposed to follow . But WLTP & Supply problems appear to have had some impact, & VW also had serious issues with regulators on a number of fronts. This played a major decision on streamlining the Passat back to 1 engine, 2 models (Sedan/Wagon) . Dealers Product guides currently make no mention of Passat Alltrack models at this stage for the local lineup. The other problem is that any further petrol variant will be PPF equipped, & that rules that variant out locally. VW will use older engines for this market in as many models as they can until supplies of those engines are exhausted. But the petrol Passat Alltrack also doesn't appear to be in that mix .

If they do bring back the Passat Alltrack, it needs to be a diesel. We love the torque curve of diesels engines compared to even a high powered petrol :)

@@MichaelSeowCanberra torque curve? Its very narrow, from 2000-3000 rpm and thats it (EA189). EA888 TSI is noticeably smoother and has broader power band

G'day Tom a friend of mine suggested not to buy it due to PPF
He thinks if there is any problem to occur, skoda will not honor the warranty just by saying I must have fill the car with normal fuel
    That really put me off
I'm in the market and looking for a suv alternative and I really liked the car
    What are your thoughts please

Thankfully, there will be clear and verifiable evidence if you've filled with high-sulphur (E10, 91 octane, etc), because the particulate filter would be clogged. Low sulphur fuels simply don't do this. Remember, it's illegal to not honour a warranty if the operator has followed the operating instructions (i.e. fill the car with 95 octane or greater). You'd have a good case to challenge their decision legally if you'd done everything right and the car still failed.
